Top Bangkok Bicycle Tips

  • Bangkok traffic can be wild! Steer clear of main streets during peak hour. 
  • Choose back roads or stay in the parks when possible. 
  • Cycle early to beat the commuters. It starts getting light by 6am in Bangkok. 
  • Always wear a helmet. Gloves and solid shoes are recommended.
  • Beat the Bangkok Heat! Carry a trusty water bottle and take regular breaks.
  • Drive on the left and stay in the left lane. 
  • Footpaths are a no no.

Not all parks in Bangkok allow bicycles inside; use this guide to avoid disappointment. 

Bang Kachao บางกะเจ้า

The Green Lung Bangkok is a peninsula river island and Bang Kachao cycling is a local fav. It is a green oasis that includes Sri Nakhon Park with an extensive network of cycling paths. Get there by small boat from Khlong Toei Pier - 4 km from Public House. You can rent a bike on the island for about 100 baht and spend the whole day exploring. More details here. 

Benchakitti Forest Park สวนป่าเบญจกิติ

They no longer allow bicycles in the Old Benchakitti Park, but you can cross through into the new forest park which is bigger and better! Bikes are allowed between 6am and 5:30 pm on the ground track. Navigate well-maintained paths surrounded by greenery - only 1.9km from Public House!

The Green Mile Bangkok

From Benchakitti Park, you can take your bike up to this pathway in the sky. It is a wide lane for pedestrians and bikes that will keep you out of traffic. It connects the two Benchakitti parks to Lumpini Park.

Lumpini Park สวนลุมพินี

Bangkok’s most famous park, it is open from 4:30 am to 10 pm, with cycling allowed between 10am and 3pm. A full loop of Lumphini is about 3 km but when you include the green mile and Forest Park, you can enjoy a 10 km ride without traffic chaos or doing any boring loops.

Nong Bon Lake Park สวนสาธารณะบึงหนองบอน

Located just on the city outskirts, this beautiful and shaded area is a favorite for cyclists. Explore a massive 4-kilometer loop around a stunning lake. You can even rent a paddle boat for a peaceful picnic on the lake.

Happy & Healthy Bike Lane Bangkok สนามลู่ปั่นจักรยานเจริญสุขมงคลจิต

A 24-kilometer bike track located near the Suvarnabhumi BKK Airport. You can rent quality bikes and gear to make the most of your ride. The flat, well-paved route is ideal for both beginners and experienced cyclists.
